Most of us live peacefully – content in the knowledge we don’t have any real enemies. Problems at the office don’t lead to lifelong nemesis. Even our nation at war doesn’t affect our daily life.
But the reality is we do have enemies. Luther called sin, death & the devil the ‘unholy trinity’. Each is committed to our harm.
Looking at the cross, we see Jesus’ absolute victory over all 3. They may continue to damage us until heaven, but the outcome was sealed at Calvary. Looking at the Cross, we must engage in spiritual battle. But we fight bravely knowing Christ has conquered.
