While there is a respectability about Christianity in our culture, the heart of the gospel remains a scandal. For the message of the cross, the guilty walk free as the innocent bears the punishment. The scandal is that God both recognises our offence – & bears his own wrath.
Grasping this scandal is transforming: It transforms our future – to be certain; It transforms our identity – as ‘beloved sinners’; &, it transforms our attitude to God & others.
The cross is not comfortable – but its scandal offers great comfort!
