What has God got to say to a hurting world? For many people, it would seem he has nothing to say. Even for Christians talking to their friends about suffering, it feels tempting to be silent about God. To ‘excuse him’ with our silence, as though he doesn’t exist.
But surveying the cross, we see God does have a word on suffering. Looking at what the cross does to – & does in – God, we realise God Himself was torn apart. In His rupture, God is transformed. He also transforms both our priority of self-preservation & our experience of suffering.
