Love is an (over) used word in our culture. It covers everything from our feelings about a second serve of dessert to the deep affection we have for family.
Surveying the cross in all its wonders, we are forced to ask: ‘What word describes our love?’ The cross gives shape to love – but is our love ‘cross-shaped’?
1 John points out that at the crucifixion, we see love as selfless giving. A selfless giving for the ultimate good of others. & while we take comfort from that love, we are also challenged. We who have been loved first, ought to love others in the same way.
