Gazing at God's Goodness - A Series on Attributes of God's Goodness

And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming,“The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.” Exodus 34:6-7.

In God’s kindness, in Exodus 34:6-7, we have a self-revelation of God’s nature and character. This is obviously not an exhaustive list of God’s character, and it is quite different from the ‘attributes of God’ (such as His Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Omniscience etc.). But as we Gaze at God’s Goodness by unpacking these 2 verses, we will look at: His compassion, His grace, His patience, His steadfast love, His faithfulness, His forgiveness, His justice. And as we do, our prayer is that God would: “fill us with the knowledge of his will through all wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that we may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might, so that we may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father.” Colossians 1: 9-12
