The Gospel of Mark may be the shortest of all the gospels, but it’s probably the most action-filled!
Written as a narrative, it tells a story of not just what Jesus said, but also what he did. Whilst vivid, it is at times vague, historical rather than history, presenting true information about Jesus and others, yet not biographical. It has been called ‘a carefully crafted story that asks the reader – is Jesus the Messiah?’
The Gospel of Mark seeks to bring us face to face with Jesus, the Holy One, to show us that he is the Christ, who ushers in the promised kingdom of God; is the Christ, who will be crucified and he and his cause will not be defeated.
